The movie ‘Kushi,’ featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda, enjoyed a successful opening weekend after its release on a Friday. According to recent reports, this Telugu film, also dubbed in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, managed to amass an estimated Rs 36 crore net across all languages during its first week in theaters.
On Sunday, ‘Kushi’ secured approximately Rs 11 crore net in India across all languages. The movie initially debuted with Rs 15.25 crore net on Friday, comprising ₹14.7 crore in Telugu and ₹55 lakh in Tamil. However, Saturday witnessed a 35.08 percent decline in ‘Kushi’s’ earnings, with an overall collection of ₹9.9 crore total in all languages. The Telugu version earned ₹9.25 crore, while the Tamil version brought in ₹65 lakh. Based on preliminary estimates, ‘Kushi’s’ total earnings in India now stand at around ₹36.15 crore in all languages.
Immediately following its release on September 1, ‘Kushi’ garnered a mix of reviews. The film revolves around Vijay’s character, Viplav, and Samantha’s character, Aradhya, who marry against their parents’ wishes, leading to a series of challenges in their relationship, including insecurities, jealousy, and various other issues.
This romantic-comedy movie, written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, features supporting roles played by Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Ponvannan, and Murali Sharma. The movie was officially announced in April 2022 and was initially referred to as ‘VD11’ due to being Vijay Devarakonda’s eleventh leading role. However, the official title ‘Kushi’ was revealed in May. Filming for the project commenced in April 2022 in Kashmir and concluded in July 2023. Production had to be halted the previous year due to Samantha’s diagnosis of myositis.
Following the release of ‘Kushi,’ Vijay Deverakonda and his family made a recent visit to the Yadadri Temple in Telangana. Vijay’s upcoming project, under the direction of Gowtam Tinnanuri and co-starring Sreeleela, is currently referred to as ‘VD 12.’ Samantha is set to appear in the Indian adaptation of the action series ‘Citadel,’ alongside Varun Dhawan. This adaptation, created by Raj and DK, will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
